poll in the Hacks BLOG
Cincinnati Big-School
Division
- FINAL
RANKINGS
1. Elder (9-1) – Received seven
first place votes and finished the regular season undefeated in the
tough Greater Catholic League South Division and against local
competition. The Panthers only loss came against St. Thomas Aquinas, FL
early in the season who had the son of Ohio State and NFL great Chris
Carter.
2. Colerain (9-1) – Restored order in the Greater Miami
Conference by crushing their last three opponents to win yet another
conference title after suffering their only loss of the season to
Middletown. The Cardinals 9-1 (6-1) are led by a sophomore tandem of
Tyler Williams and Traylon Durham who both rushed for more than 1,000
yards, another GMC title and will face Moeller in the first round of the
playoffs.
3. Moeller (6-4) – The Crusaders held on to a 17-14 win over St.
Xavier to propel them into the playoffs. Jr. QB Andrew Hendrix and the
rest of his team head back to Colerain with the thought of upset on
their mind for the playoffs.
4. Sycamore (8-2) – Many felt coming into the season that the
Aves would dethrone Colerain as the GMC champions but an unlikely loss
to Hamilton robbed them of that opportunity as well as a playoff spot.
Not to be lost however was the incredible performance from senior RB Bud
Golden who rushed for more than 1,500 yards.
5. Hamilton (7-3) – Like the Aves of Sycamore the Big Blue had a
good season but not what they were expecting as wins over Sycamore and
Middletown were a highlight to the season but unfortunate losses to
Princeton and Oak Hills spelled their doom and eliminated them from
playoff contention.
Cincinnati
Small-School Division
- FINAL
RANKINGS
1. Anderson (8-2) – Look to defend
their state championship from last season behind junior RB Kyle Slater
who has rushed for more than 1,300 yards this season. The Redskins’ only
losses came against Winton Woods and St. Francis De Sales or Columbus.
2. Winton Woods (9-1) – The Warriors are trying to figure out how
they finished behind Anderson in the polls with only one loss on the
season and having beat Anderson head-to-head 23-13
3. Kings (7-3) – The Knights ran off five consecutive wins to
finish the season and a first round playoff matchup with Turpin whom
they beat during the regular season 41-10
4. Turpin (9-1) – Having lost only to Kings during the regular
season the Spartans are chomping at the bit to return the favor but this
time with more at stake.
5. Edgewood (8-2) – An 8-2 record and state playoff birth is
something to be proud of but drawing #1 Anderson in the first round of
the playoffs is tough. Edgewood will look to keep their winning ways
alive as they have won their last five.

Northern Kentucky
- FINAL
RANKINGS
1. Highlands (7-1) - The Bluebirds
received all ten first place votes as they once again find themselves on
top of the final rankings. Their only loss came at the hands of
Colerain, with their leading rusher Josh Connor still sidelined with an
injury. Conner is healthy and now Highlands looks to capture another
state title.
2. Boone County (7-1)– The Rebels rebounded from their only loss
of the season which happened to be their first to go undefeated the rest
of the way. Known as the “Runnin Rebels”, especially during the Shaun
Alexander days, junior RB Charles Quainoo racked up more than
1,700-yards this season.
3. Beechwood (9-0)– Once again the Tigers rolled through their
regular season without being challenged by their opponents as they added
another undefeated campaign under their belt as they punished everyone
in their path including Dixie Heights and Covington Catholic.
4. Newport Catholic (7-1) – A one point win over Conner and their
only loss of the year to Covington Catholic has New Cath looking to
bring home another state title.
5. Ryle (4-5) & Conner (4-4) – The Boone County area continues to
grow and as a result the talent is being further distributed amongst the
schools. The addition of Cooper high school this season depleted some of
Ryle’s talent while Conner must compete with Boone County.
