Ryle sophomore pitcher Kirsten Allen continues to
dominate on the mound this spring and only seems to be getting stronger
as the season goes on for the top-ranked Raiders.
Fresh off a 10-0 no-hit win over Walton on Tuesday
when she fanned 15 batters, Allen hurled another no-hitter yesterday
against Holmes in a 10-0 five-inning win over the No. 5 Bulldogs,
striking out 12 of the 15 batters she faced.
It was the fifth perfect game of the season for
Allen (23-6) and her 14th shutout of the season as the
Raiders head toward district play next week.
For the season, Allen has an area-best ERA of 0.19
and has recorded 333 strikeouts in 188 innings pitched – almost 100 more
than Amanda Jump of Holmes, her opponent yesterday who ranks second in
strikeouts. |
